Risk of stroke in TIA patients with intracranial artery stenosis
More and more studies are published at present regarding the risk of stroke following a TIA. The most recent study which is published in Arch Neurol.2008; 65 (6): 733-737 was a cohort one with objectives to quantify the early risk of ischaemic stroke in the territory of a stenotic intracranial artery after TIA. 7th Karolinska Stroke Update meeting in Stockholm, November 16-18, 2008 at Clarion Hotel, Stockholm

Karolinska Stroke Update is an international meeting attracting stroke experts from all over the world. Karolinska Stroke Update discuss recent results from clinical trials on stroke therapy and to consent on their implementation into clinical practice. From 2008 the meeting will be integrated with the revision of the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) guidelines (previously EUSI guidelines). The meeting will discuss several important issues on acute stroke therapy and prevention. The discussions will advice the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) on revisions of ESO guidelines. New ESO guidelines for management of subarachnoid haemorrhage will also be presented at the meeting.

In an international press conference, it was annonuced on the third day of the 17th European stroke conference (15th May 08) that the European Commission will invest more than 21 million euros to support central research into strokes for a period of five years.   Read more...

Guidelines >> PDF National Clinical Guideline for stroke and TIA 2008
National Clinical Guideline for Stroke and TIA 2008 :The Royal College of Physicians, London, UK has published recently the 3rd edition of the National Clinical Guideline for Stroke. The first edition was published in 2000, followed by the second edition in 2004. This guideline covers interventions in the acute stage of a stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA). Most of the evidence considered related to interventions in the first 48 hours after onset of symptoms, although some interventions of up to two weeks are covered as well.
